Collector Knives
It's quite safe to say that all Ek knives, from the very earliest ones made in the late 1930's, to the ones made today, are bona fide collector knives. First and foremost they are "America's Best Military Knives", designed to be the most effective fighting knives in combat and - backing up that - battle proven since 1941 in six wars (just see the "Testimonials"). True military knife collectors want the real thing; our knives are the Real Thing.
Today, the knives made under the leadership of John Ek during World War II are the most desired, with prices stated in U.S. Military Knives, Bayonets and Machetes (copyright 2006, Knife World Publications) as being from $650 to $1,500, depending upon the model (see specifics in the "In the News" section). Even rarer and more valuable than these are the knives subsequently made in Florida from postwar to 1982.
Because the company's motto since 1982 has been "Constant Improvement", small changes are seen in the military combat knives over the period from 1982 to the present; some of these changes are discussed in the "History" section. So, a collector could have over 1,000 Ek knives in his collection, all built between 1982 and the present, with no two being exactly alike; a collector could buy a knife from us every six months and find something a little different in each.
Because we bench make our knives, output has always been low, especially relative to other military 'factory' knives. This rarity adds immediate collector interest and value to the knives. Today the number of knives we make each year is lower than that during our nation's biggest war, World War II. The WWII knives now sell for 30 to 50 times their original retail price. With today's low production numbers, combined with "past is prologue", a similar value multiplier could well apply to the knives made today, tomorrow.
We offer special, optional features which can make a knife somewhat unique. For example, on special request, we can made a knife with 'Ivory' Micarta or Olive Drab Micarta grips (rather than the usual Black Micarta). Combine that with the many military banners that are available from which to choose that can be etched on the blade, combined with the choice of four different colors of sheaths (no one else offers this), and a potentially 'one-of-a-kind' knife can be created.
Also, we have very few dealers, and most of these are located overseas. That is because we try to keep our prices affordable to military men, so we keep the prices down as low as possible. So, unlike mass-marketed knives, there is not a big mark up built in, which means dealers can't get a big discount (which is why dealers don't carry them). This means when we offer a knife for $249, that means it is a $249 knife; it's not a $125 knife marked up by a retailer to $249. It also means that you won't see our $249 knife sold by a discounter at $229. So, unlike most knives, the stated value is the real value...another reason Ek knives are collector knives.
What makes Ek knives especially interesting to collectors is that they are true military fighting knives (most others are multi-task, aimed at broad markets). This, combined with the history and proven reputation of Ek knives, adds to their intrigue and heightens the interest in collecting them.
Finally, let it be said that people buy collector knives they like and believe in. Our testimonials show that these descriptions definitely apply to Ek knives - "America's Best Military Knives", battle proven in six wars.
Continue the mission...

Original Editions of "Your Silent Partner"™ Now Available
In going through some old file boxes, we recently found original printings of "Your Silent Partner"™. These handbooks, in various editions, were supplied with our knives from the early days of WWII, through when we took over in 1982 and into the 1990's. Many people ask us to come out with a new edition, but our motto of "Constant Improvement" means from time to time we make visible changes to the knives and sheaths, which means we'd stay busy re-photographing knives, changing the artwork for the printing and printing revised editions. Maybe in the future...for now, we stay busy enough keeping up with making knives for our men in uniform!
Each booklet comes with a note on company letterhead, signed by our president, certifying to the booklet's originality/authenticity, all in an Ek envelope. Condition: Mint.
Definitely "supplies are limited". Get one -- or all three -- while they are briefly available. Free shipping within CONUS (Continental U.S.) or to APO's or FPO's. $10 outside there. Satisfaction guaranteed or return in 30 days for full refund.
