Words from Combatants/Customers

"I consider Ek knives to be every bit the equal of Randalls. They are beautiful, well made, sturdy and have a great history behind them. I've owned them for 15 years, and they are the 'Real McCoy'!"
- G.W., Dallass

"Dad loves knives and made it home with many types. I have the same 'affliction' and over 30 years of covert ops. I took [my Ek] on the Iran Hostage Rescue Raid in 1980. I took a Randall #1 and Dad's Ek when I was a bodyguard to the Shah of Iran."
- P. C., Arizonaa

"Have been familiar with your products for years. Own several Ek knives already. Have owned 5 Randall knives in the past and believe them to be inferior [to Ek knives]."
- Bob P.

"I must say it is truly a work of art. The finish is beautiful. I have owned Randall knives in the past, and I must say that your product really exceeds the Randall. I have already determined my next Ek purchase."
- Dan D., FL

"It is the best knife I have ever owned, and I have owned quite a few good ones!"
- R.J., Austria

"I purchased two knives (M1 and M2)...in 1985 and 1986 and have been very happy with them over the years. I served almost 27 years in Army Special Forces (mostly 10th SF in Germany with deployments to SW Asia and Africa) and tried a bunch of knives, but in the end I usually had the M1 on my belt until I retired in 2002."
- M.P.

"I am stunned by the knives you create."
- Ranger Mark P.

"I wanted to let you know I very much appreciate my two knives and the great etching on them. They are indeed a treasure that I will be pleased to pass on to my two grandsons." - Ranger Al P., Texas

"I just wanted to let you know that the Norwegian General was very pleased with his Marine Raider Stiletto MkII. It was presented to him yesterday at a lunch at Bolling AFB. Thank you so much for excellent service." - Royal Norwegian Embassy

"Your work on knives and your undying customer service is unparalleled. It’s nice to see that true craftsmen do still exist. Thank you." - Lee K., Calif.

"I was at the battle at LZ X-Ray, 1965, Vietnam with 2/7 of the 1st Cav, Air Mobile, as a reinforcement to 1/7, that badly needed help. I was 6'2", 200 lbs., and the NVA attacking us looked like little kids beside me. The second night of fighting, my M16 jammed. The NVA overran our position and were packed in so tightly they couldn't get out of each other's way. When they'd surge forward to bayonet me, I'd grab the barrel of their rifle, pull them forward, and slit their throats with my Ek. Ten bodies were piled up in from of me after the fight. That knife kept me alive that night - and it got more use after that. That knife was made for doing one thing, and that is what I used it for in Vietnam." - Fred B., Wash. State

“I was driving down the highway and the woman in the car in front of me went off the right shoulder and flipped over and down the cliff-like edge of the deep ravine beside the highway. Her car was so far down below the highway, passing motorists didn’t know she was there. I quickly stopped and jumped down into the ravine. Her door was wedged tight. I had a pry bar, but it was too thick to get in the door gap. I grabbed my Ek M5 Bowie and took a hammer and hammered the knife into the narrow door gap. Then, with the Ek, I pried open the door enough so I could get my pry bar in and open the door and got her out. Without my M5, it wouldn’t have happened!” - William C., Crewe, Va.

"The TO4 arrived much more quickly than expected and is, IMHO, an outstanding example of a simple, solid, dedicated military fighting knife. Thank you for making such an excellent blade, for your many years of making this very necessary tool available to our service men and women." - Pete S., Annandale, VA

"My son is a Marine in Afghanistan and I gave him my Ek Commando Knife I got from you back in the 1980's. That knife is beautiful and well made, and anyone who sees it turns green with envy!" - Chris D., Milton, Del.

"I am amazed at the fit and finish of this knife. It is the most beautiful knife I own and you can be sure it will be with me every day I am in my patrol vehicle. I kept the old Ek in the door pocket where I could get to it very quickly on any call. This one will take its place and the old one will be "on duty" at my home. Thanks again for an outstanding product."  - Mark C., Deputy Chief of Police

"Thank you for the excellent service. You had my knives on the 19th and I had them resharpened and back on the 25th. It is almost impossible to expect this kind of service in this day and age. You have an excellent product and service to match. I will wholeheartedly endorse Ek knives to anyone that will listen. Thanks again." - John H., Waverly, Ohio

"I have always admired and owned quite a few Randall knives. Recently though I had won an Ek PB3 and have to comment on how well a fighting knife it is. Perfect balance and well made. I know that both Randall and Ek offered these in WWII but Randall makes a number of different knives now while the Ek still remains as a fighter only. Even a new Ek is half the price of what you would pay on Ebay for a Randall because they are so backlogged for orders while you can get an Ek in 4-6 weeks right from Ek in Virginia. The model PB5 is next ton my list as it has a nice Bowie blade. Wonder how many of our troops are using an Ek in Afghanistan or Iraq now." - usmilitariaforum.com

"I can promise you that it will be in use here - as have my other two Ek's. I will always - ALWAYS - carry an Ek. To me, it is more than essential - it is ELEMENTAL to me as a professional." Col. George B., Afghanistan

"I received my Ek knife just before deploying overseas in 1990. I have used this knife on every deployment to include Somalia and second trip back to the Gulf in 1993. This is the best edge weapon I have ever owned." - Jim L.

"I have a knife collection and I must admit, the Ek's are my favorite. Also, they are the ones that are usually picked up first by the person I'm showing the collection to." - Patrick A., Okla.

"I used to have an Ek back in 1991 and used it all the time on Active Duty as a Jump Master and Rappel Master Arctic Survival Instructor and Sea Survival Instructor with the Alaska LRSD with 25 yrs in service and 4 combat tours, but in Iraq I lost it and would like to get another one. P.S. Take a look at my Halo Wings that I did on the floor at my Armory with the Ek." - Carlos H.

"As a retired military man, two tour Iraqi veteran (during which I carried/used the Ek Desert Model 5), I know how important a GOOD KNIFE can be. I am a dedicated Ek customer and owner of four Ek knives." - SFC Tom "Two Guns" 812th MP Co.

"I carried one of your Bowies in Iraq, and I couldn't have asked for a better knife!" - Charles U., Tenn.

"An Ek M5 was given to me by an American Soldier from The Hell on Wheels Division, stationed in West Germany in the 1980's. I was a very young British soldier then in the first Bn Irish Guards. This knife served me well for 22 years in the military, and now that I am back in civilian life I still cherish this knife." - P.M., England

"My Model 5 Bowie is the best knife I've ever seen - and I've seen a lot of knives. It's so well balanced - a great working knife. Some of my friends came by to see it and they were AMAZED! I want to order another one now. Thanks for making such a fine knife!" C.A., Goode, Va.

"Have received many compliments on the blade you made for me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience." - Phil C. (ex S/F)

"I got my Ek knife as a graduation present from Ranger School. It is the best knife I have ever had, and would not trade it for anything! It has been part of my equipment since 1987, and when I got off Active Duty, it remains with me in the USAR to this day, and will be making its 3rd deployment for OEF shortly." - SFC Craig M.

“My Ek Bowie is the best knife I’ve ever owned! It’s been with me through operations in Panama, the first Gulf War, twice in Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, and six tours of duty in Afghanistan/Iraq. I’m a strong believer in your knives, and we appreciate the dedication your company shows to us Soldiers! When I take off the uniform, I’m going to put it up on the mantle at home!” - John M. (E-7), Afghanistan

"If I have to go out in the middle of the night, I don't carry a gun, but my Ek knife often goes with me." - Missouri  (On an internet knife forum)

"The knife arrived--and it is great!  Thank you and I look forward to soon purchasing another Ek Commando." J., C.I.A. (Ret.)

"I am a Marine Desert Storm Veteran who owns several Ek knives--the best in the world!.  As a former Recon Marine my Ek during the Gulf War saved my ass more than once!" - Chris P.

"The knife is a work of art.  If I needed a knife for combat, this would be it.  Keep up the great work." - Trevor M., England

Yesterday, I received the two Ek M5 Bowies I ordered. As with my earlier purchase of an Ek M4 dagger, I could not be more pleased. In only a matter of days after I placed my order for the bowies, you produced the knives to the specifications I requested, and got them in my hands.

To any American who, going in harm’s way, desires the best fighting dagger, or the best fighting knife also suitable for general purposes, I would offer this opinion:

There are less expensive knives that can be had just as quickly as an Ek knife, but which cannot be ordered to personal specifications, and which suffer from inferior materials, workmanship and basic design.

There are knives the price of which is comparable to that of an Ek knife, but which cannot be ordered to personal specifications, and which suffer from inferior materials, workmanship and basic design, and the waiting list for them is measured in months.

And there are knives that are more expensive than an Ek knife, the materials and workmanship of which are comparable to those of an Ek knife, and which can be ordered to limited personal specifications, but they are not as well-designed, they still require modification to correct deficiencies not present in an Ek knife, and the waiting list for them is measured in years.

To my knowledge, however, there is no other knife made with the quality of materials, workmanship and basic design of an Ek knife, which can be ordered to personal specifications and delivered as quickly, with as good a sheath, for any price. Before buying any other fighting dagger or knife, consider the Ek.

- Petty Officer First Class Mark O. USNR, OIF III

"I've used my Bowie M5 since the mid '90's for service use and now while on my business photo safaris. It's one of my most trusted pieces of equipment I carry."
- D.G., Oregon

"First of all, I want to thank you for making the best fighting knife in the world. I have owned mine since 1988. When I was growing up I would see your ads in magazines. I always wanted one. In 1987 I joined the army and became an Infantryman. I bought myself a fighting knife of sub-standard quality time guarantee. I broke 3 of those knives before I gave up on them. The day that U.S. Cavalry opened at Ft. Campbell I walked in and went to look at the knives they had. There is was, my beloved Ek. Did not think twice bought and suffered for two weeks with no money but in the long run it was well worth it. I carried it every time it went to the field. One time I used it as a crowbar on a feed tray of an M-60 MG. It did not hurt the edge or bend. It passed my test. I carried it in Desert Storm. In 1991 I got out of the Army and sold all Army stuff. But not my Ek. I oiled her up and put her away until 2003 when I came back into the Army. She was there in OIF3 with me. When I go again, she will be right there with me. My 16 year old son is talking about joining the Army also. If he does he will have one of your knives for he will also have the best. Thanks again for being there for us. You don't realize how much you have done for us."
- SGT D.L.R. U.S. Army Infantry

In 1989, I was permanently issued an Ek Commando knife. I carried it on operations and exercises until I retired in 2003. It was without question the absolutely best knife I have every owned, saving my life on no less than two occasions.
- Melvin R., Army/Pentagon

LZ Afghanistan, where Ek Commando Knives travel in harm's way. Photo above copyright 2008 by Graham Lavery, who reports, "Ek makes some beautiful products. One of the State Dept. counter-narcotics guys was showing off one of your knives while we were with them in Kabul."

I always liked my Gerber MkII until I held an Ek Model 4 -- it was the perfect knife!
- Don T., Ala.

"The Randalls have nothing on you!" - Jim R., Mich.

"Great folks at Ek -- I have known for a long time -- finest knife in the world as far as I am concerned -- I have carried in every conflict I have been in and I have given them as gifts to Troops, Kings and Princes, etc. All have been impressed with quality. For the money I have always found them to be the best deal."
- MG EES, USA (Ret.)

These knives are beautiful but are meant to be used. I have a bowie style Ek that I used for years to quarter large game aniumals, to include cutting bone! The knife lost a lot of its beauty and I decided to send it back to Ek to have them restore it. For a reasonable fee they restored that knife to like new condition. I couldn't believe it was the same knife!
- Mark P.

"I had occasion this Saturday past, to bring my Ek knife to a small reunion of sorts that included Marines, a few Navy folks who enjoy 'swimming activities' and even three Brits from SAS among the group. All but two members had Ek knives with them. The other two left theirs at home!"
- Tom C., USMC, Tenn.

"My Ek knife served me well over a 18 year career in the U.S. Army and that includes two combat tours in the Middle East. One tour at the beginning of that career and one at the end."
- SFC Jon W., Tex.

"I was extremely pleased with your promptness in attending to my order and the excellent workmanship. The micarta grips are great!"
- Bob P., Wash.

"I carried one of your Model 2's in Central America in the early 1980's, and it always served me well. Your knives are so strong you could drive one into a post and hang from it with a carabineer. With the Gerber Mark II, if you drop it just right, you'll bust the handle right off."
- M.B., Texas

"I have had time to do some pre-testing and have been quite impressed by the performance of your M4 knife. I tested thrusting on a set of beef ribs. The M4 penetrated up to the hilt, while splitting the ribs. Very impressive for a dagger of its size. I was also impressed at its slashing ability, which is not in the dagger's normal function. I was able to cut through five free standing water bottles, as well as cleanly slicing a whole chicken in half with ease. I have many more tests, but so far your knife has performed at the top of each category."
- Kevin C., Master of Arms, Texas

"The CW5 looks very strong and I think that it will be a solid companion for me. The wooden grip feels so familiar -- just like the grip of a Smith & Wesson I used to have."
- Han A., Netherlands

"I bought a M-4 from you for my son in Afghanistan last year and he loves it. He told me a lot of guys were trying to buy it from him. Of course, he said no. We did give them your web site. Thank you for the good work supporting our troops."
- Martin R.

I have a special Ek that I have brought everywhere with me as a secondary weapon. I would like to thank you for producing such a great knife. The quality, durability, and strength of your knife is unsurpassed by anyone. It has been my primary, secondary defense weapon for 15 years. I have had to use it on occasion and it has never failed me. I have entrusted my life to this weapon for over 15 years as a close combat weapon without any hesitations. Never have I put more confidence in my equipment than your knife.
- Ex-SF

"The stitching pattern on the sheath does work. I have worn it on my Jeep and have also worn it in a DeHavilland Beaver aircraft and forgotten I had it on. Like the knives it is a deceptively simple design."
- Maury S., Va.

"Ek Commando Knives is one of America's oldest combat knife companies. Its double-edged fighters are considered combat-proven if you take World War II, Korea, Vietnam, El Salvador, Grenada, Panama, and the Persian Gulf War into consideration. Ek is an excellent specialty knife company any way you cut it."
- Battle Blades, by Greg Walker (1993)

"Your knives are the best in the world!"
- Maxim, Kiev, Ukraine

"I've got every kind and brand of knife available, and nothing competes with an Ek. They are the most sought-after knives out there!"
- C.F.W., USMC Veteran, Calif.

"They are without a doubt the best combat knife I have ever come across in all my years of service. Thanks again."
- W.M., Fla.

"I own an Ek and it is the finest in my collection (I am a weapons technician in the Canadian Army)."
- DVB, Canada

"I've been using knives for 45 years as Marine, Police Officer, and civilian and have never met the match for your product. Your product, in my experience is superior in all points, including affordability. Even the much lauded Randall Bowie must take a back (if beautiful) seat in all respects."
- D.K.W.

"There will never be a better knife than Ek. The M4 and M5 will always be my picks!"
- Major General E.E.S., U.S.A. (Ret.) Special Forces/Ranger/Airborne

"I'm a law enforcement officer, and have been collecting and using many different brands of knives for the past several years, and feel that the Ek knives are definitely at the top of the list when it comes to quality."
- Michael C., Penn.

"As a former United States Marine who has knowledge of combat knives, I can tell you that this particular knife was designed and constructed with the best materials of the day and the highest degree of engineering and probably has yet to be surpassed or equaled. This particular knife survived a long journey and provided my father an added element of protection. That must have been a very comforting feeling for a foot soldier to have. This knife will be passed by me to my nephew who has served a tour in Iraq and since then has become a Special Agent in the FBI. It is fitting that it remain in the possession of an American Patriot."
- Mike A., Georgia

"I received my knife on Monday. Great knife and great service."
- P.C., Switzerland

"Many years ago I bought one of the first two Eks that were sold in Canada back in the 80's. I still have it; a Model 3. It is still my favorite working knife; it's been out with me in the backwoods of the BC interior, the Queen Charlottes (Haida Gwaii), the Nisga'a valley, 3 times up in the Yukon for months on end, up north of the arctic circle a few times, Alaska; places you need a good working tool. My Ek goes with me everywhere (except out for a night on the town...)."
- Canada

"I own an Ek Model 3, which I purchased about 25 years ago, and it is a great knife. I also like Randall's Model 1, but I do not like Randall's guard, and their handle is too thick. If I had to choose just one, it would be the Ek hands down!"
- Daniel D.

"I had the chance to use one of your knives on my last tour in Iraq. It didn't turn out too well for the other guy!"
- G.B.Iraq (5 tours)

"Many years ago I bought one of your knives. The next year I joined the U.S. Army and brought that knife along. Your knife served me very well for 4 years in the Army. I went to Iraq in 2003 and 2004. I brought your knife with me and in 2003 I was a quick reaction force in northern Iraq. We were called up to go help a convoy from the Air Force that had been hit by an IED. When I arrived at the scene there was a young Airman that had been killed when the IED went off, and his body was trapped in the burning vehicle. Me and my platoon sergeant decided that we were not going to sit by and let his body burn. We were thinking of his family and that we wanted to get something home for them. We went up to the truck even though .50 cal rounds were cooking off and firing all around us. I used your knife to cut the straps from around his body and we pulled him out. I was very happy to get the man's body home for his mom and dad. If it had not been for your knife and its dependability, I don't know if the situation would have had a different ending. Thank you for your product."
- Kevin B, Former SGT, U.S. Army

"I've always owned Randall's, and I've owned Ek's -- along with a host of Ontario RAT's and others -- and for military use I prefer my Ek's."
- R.T., Maryland

Ek knives: on duty and ready to close with the enemy.

"I'm currently a Sergeant with the New York City Police Department and have carried an Ek knife for many years now, when it isn't actually on my person it sets in my patrol bag at my side. This knife I have carried has served me well, very well as a matter of fact."
- Sgt. NYPD

"The greatest knife in the entire WORLD is the Ek Knife. I've owned mine for over 15 years, and I cannot go to sleep without that knife beside me (my wife doesn't care for that). The sheath is tied to a leg of my nightstand so I can get it quickly if I need it."
- M.S., Stockbroker, D.C.

"M3 it will be then. You know I think its rather humourous that we who work in this field always are given "new" and improved kit. But we always seem to come back to what is practical, tried and true. They have issued me a SOG seal pup with my new kit. It will sit in my BBox and collect dust, machined, chunk of junk. Reminds me of something a clerk would use to open the mail. Aside from sitting funny and a new fondness for more padding on vehicle seats, I will be back in the sand lot soon."
- Sgt T.C., Canadian Forces

"They are the best available in all regards and can be relied on in any situation, under any condition."
- P.A.

"I have been a user of Ek knives since my Army days. I also gave my son and my nephew Ek knives when they entered the military."
- Ron T., WY

"My Ek knife has been around the world and back a couple of times. It is a great knife -- I wouldn't sell it for the world!"
- J.W., Navy Seabees, Va.

"Everyone in the Military knows Ek knives. They are the standard - the benchmark."
- Mike M., Kansas

"I have carried my Ek since May of 1970. It was given to me as a commissioning present by the father of my best man, who was a 1st Marine Raider. Shortly after my commissioning at the University of Miami, this weapon accompanied me to the Republic of Vietnam from Aug 1971 to Aug 1972. It was on my person for virtually all of the intervening "three hundred sixty-five days and a wake-up". I was assigned as a Military Intelligence Case Officer/Advisor to the ARVN Military Security Service in the delta and often had to operate "in mufti" throughout the various provinces in the Delta working with the various US and ARVN agencies and accompanying their field elements. When operating in a "cover status", I frequently could not openly carry a US firearm or government-issue bayonet for fear of raising suspicions among the populace. The Ek, being a non-government issue weapon, provided me comfort while being reasonably concealable and not drawing attention. Upon nearing my DEROS date, I realized that under the (then) USARV regulations, I could not bring my trusty, cold, steel friend back to "the world" with me. It was not an "official" Government Issue item. I finally found out the only way I could return with my metallic friend was to declare it a "war trophy"! Since I could not bear the thought of parting with it, I patiently began the bureaucratic process of haggling long-distance with the REMF's at IV Corps HQ. Much to my relief, after several months, I did indeed get the approval to return to CONUS with my beloved Ek in my duffle bag. It continued to accompany me throughout the rest of my 20-year career in the US Army, and now graces a position of trust and honor bedside; just within easy reach of the top drawer of my dresser, where it comforts me to this day. God bless the Ek Commando Knife Company for continuing to produce such fine combat and recognition pieces for our warriors."
- Ken B., LTC, USA, MI

"The knife is superb and by far the best in my collection! I believe it won't be long until I do more business with you. All the best from Norway!"
- M.G.L., Norway

"You have an excellent product."
- J.W.M., Calif.

"I have been a knife collector, hunter and military collector for quite a bit of time. I own all kinds of military knives, from the traditional WWII M3 fighting knife, Ka-Bars, USN MkII knives, and German fighting knives to modern warfare knives! I have used a lot of knives when out in the woods. Somewhere I saw a picture of an Ek CW5 Bowie knife and knew I had to have it. I expected a lot from the knife as well as from the company, and I must truly say they both beat my expectations by a long shot! I have never seen a company that was that quick, and I will tell anybody, if you want a solid piece of steel that can last a lifetime and even longer, get an Ek knife! And last but not least, I am damn sure that it won't be my last Ek knife!"
- Roman A., Austria

"I am writing to tell you about the best combat knife ever made. The Ek. During Desert Shield/Storm I carried an Ek Bowie style wrapped in parachute cord. I used my knife for everything from opening MRE's to cutting metal, and never once did it fail me. It kept a keen edge with only a minimum of maintenance. I knew I could always count on it when I needed to cut something."
- W.M.

"I had one of your knives in 'Nam – they are phenomenal, phenomenal knives. I'm ordering an M4 for my son who is in Iraq." - T.C., Iowa

"I own numerous Ek knives and greatly appreciate them. Your knives are truly unique and I get more positive feedback on them that any others in my vast collection. I own hundreds of first class knives."
- D.W., Ohio

"My Ek M4 is my prize possession."
- D.S., Mich.

"It is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Undoubtedly, the best of its kind which I've ever handled."
- A.M., Scotland

"That Ek knife has been with me on every continent in the world. It's an excellent knife!"
- B.G., USMC, Wash.

"Thank you for producing a World Class product that is second to NONE!"
- CW3 RH, Tikrit/Ft. Bragg, 82nd Airborne

"I was in Special Forces in Vietnam in the early '60's. I remember some of our guys carried Ek's. I don't remember having seen any Randalls – they were too expensive!"
- J.M., N.Y.

"A pleasure doing business with you. You were willing to go the extra mile for your customer. Now I'll rest easy in a foreign, possibly unfriendly, country. Thanks again."
- L.H., Merchant Marines

I am a firm believer in your products. When I flip through magazines and see other knife makers' offerings, I smile and keep turning pages; I know I already have the best. I have enjoyed your friendly and helpful correspondence – speaks volumes for you and your company."
- J.T., P.E., Louisville, Miss.

"Ek is the premier organization in this country for military combat knives. I recommend them. I have black belts in four of the martial arts, and I teach close combat and knife fighting across the country and overseas to military personnel (most recently, Marines at Camp Pendleton), Air Marshals, public leaders and many independent classes."
- T.M., Illinois

"Wow, what a beauty! The craftsmanship displayed by your company's knife-makers is very impressive."
- A.M., Glasgow, Scotland

"We have always loved and recommended the Ek Fighting Knives. They are durable in the extreme, beautifully balanced, razor sharp, and possessed of a stout steel blade point that can be driven through a chunk of solid wood. (Human bodies pose no problem when thrusting - even through heavy clothing - with an Ek!) All of Ek's knives are beauties."
- Close Quarters: The Professional Journal of Ungentlemanly Warfare, August 2007

"The Ek M4 is about the best combat stiletto in the world...well worth the price."
- Close Quarters: The Professional Journal of Ungentlemanly Warfare, March 2008

"I've been in the combat/self-defense/weaponry field for more than 40 years and have often recommended, as well as written about, the terrific Ek Commando Knives. I have felt that these knives were among the best in the world since I first picked one up, decades ago. The references in Close Quarters are only my most recent in regard to Ek knives. I was a close friend and associate of Col. Rex Applegate for more than 25 years, and on more than one occasion, during our discussions regarding fighting knives I expressed my admiration for the Ek models. The Colonel agreed."
-Bradley J. Steiner, Publisher, Close Quarters

"Only one of my friends who serves with the Dutch Commando's knew a colleague who had one for sale. It was gone before I could buy it. Now I know where to buy them, I will look around for more people who want to buy your knives."
- P.V., Renkum, Holland

"I plan to let my children have the Ek's that I have carried in Iraqi Freedom (Iraq) and now Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). If I go on a fourth combat tour anywhere, you can bet I'll carry another Ek. Thank you for a jam up product."
- SFC G.S., Afghanistan

"I own quite a few blades, from Bowie types to the latest 6-inch military utility knives. The Ek is easily the best balanced. Certainly, I have never had a better-balanced knife in my hand... If you are in need – truly in need – of a fighting knife, look hard at the Ek. You will be in good company.
- TACTICAL KNIVES

"My Ek Model 5 Bowie has been with me in the desert 3 or 4 times, and you can't beat it with a stick! I've had Randalls, but my Ek Bowie tops them hands down. It's awesome!"
- Petty Officer K., USN - Amphibs

"I just wanted to tell you guys how proud I am to own an Ek knife. Ek knives simply make other combat knives obsolete."
- C.M.

"My Ek knife saved my life in the 'Nam and now my grandson has one in Iraq. I have Randall's, Gerber's, Kabars, but none compare with Ek knives as true fighting knives. None have served me better than my Ek did in the A Shau valley in '67. My Car-15 jammed and I was up close and personal with an NVA in the elephant grass. I thought that I had bought the farm. Then he started screwing around with his SKS's bolt; long story short I used my Ek and his day got very bad. I am here to tell you about it because of my Ek. It went through an ammo bandoleer and still got the job done. I do not believe my other knife (no names – begins with G) would have done the job with one thrust. Without a doubt in my mind I believe that an Ek knife is the best Fighting Knife in the world. An old LRP."

"I just received my Ek SF4 in the mail this morning...I must say, it exceeds all my expectations...I saw one when I was in Vietnam, but didn't realize how great a knife this is...I was in the infantry with the 9th infantry division in the Delta...I wish I had one then. I know this knife would have stood up very well in all the mud and water of the Delta...It took me a long time to find you, but I'm so glad I finally did...Thanks much."
- Paul P.

"I love it. It is a beautiful knife. The craftsmanship on it is unsurpassed."
- P.T., Georgia

"I am a platoon leader deployed to Iraq with the 82nd ABN DIV and would first like to say that I love my Ek Knife! It was given to me by a close friend about two weeks before I deployed. Almost seven months later I am, still taking it out on every patrol my platoon goes on (70+ and counting). Thank you for providing a great weapon and tool for the American Soldier. You have a history and lineage that you can be proud of."
- RW, Iraq

"I have had a couple of Ek Commando knives in the past and they are the best quality knife I have ever had the honour to own and use."
- M.R., New Zealand

"I am a repeat customer. As well as using an Ek over here in Afghanistan, I also collect them. They just are a damn good knife to have anytime, anywhere, anyplace, any reason. Thank you and keep up the good work."
- SFC G.A.S., Afghanistan

"I carried one of your M4's throughout my service career (interesting times) and could trust my life with it. I served 24 years and deployed in just about every hotspot during that time."
- David, Ex-42 Commando Royal Marines

"When I opened the package, my company First Sergeant immediately recognized the Ek knife and explained its quality and usefulness. He also shared that he is an owner of an Ek knife. It certainly surpasses my issued Ka-Bar."
- 2nd Lt. J.K., USMC, Iraq

"I was a Navy Seabee, and we heard about your Ek knives from the Marines. Now I want one!"
- G.W., Okla.

"Thank you so very much for your personalized attention, I appreciate it a bunch! Looking forward to purchasing more of your darn fine products!"
-M.B., Guatemala

"I acquired my Ek Combat Knife when I was a teen. I had traded a folding knife to a friend who appreciated the Ek but had not use for it. I kept it in perfect condition for years, only taking it out to admire the full length double edged blade and cord wrapped handle. At 23 I enlisted in the Army as an infantryman. When it came time to deploy to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, I packed the knife alongside all the other things that I would depend on for that year.

To Iraqis the sight of soldiers with rifles is somewhat pedestrian. That are well aware that there are Rules of Engagement that soldiers must follow. They are usually fairly cavalier and even belligerent to soldiers when asked questions. However, the mere sight of the naked blade of the Ek changes cocky smiles into looks of nauseating dread.

The presence of the Ek Combat Knife changes the dynamics of a situation drastically. The idea of being shot, while horrible, is rather abstract. Most people have never been shot, so their mind doesn't automatically associate a firearm with pain. However, everyone has been cut before, and the sight of a blade congers memories of very real pain. The psychological impact of a good blade is unmeasurable."
- S.M., Washington

"It's excellent -- you could easily double the price -- I know, I've got some really good ones (knives) -- I've been in the Marine Corps for 20 years."
- S.C.

"Thanks for continuing to make a great knife. I have tried several makes including Randall's, but yours is still superior. No wonder it has such a long history participating in conflicts and wars. I 'loaned' one of my M4's to a Navy SEAL friend of mine and it became his 'birthday present'. He liked it so much during his deployment to the mid-east, he decided he couldn't part with it. Like I said, your knives are the best in their class."
- M.W., California

"I do own one of the Ek knives, and find it to be a fine blade, rarely carried because I think so highly of it. An heirloom of sorts."
- C.D., Richmond, Va.

"The Ek Bowie is one of the best all-around tools I've ever owned and the best knife. I use it as a comparison to every other knife I ever consider. Your sheaths are also the best."
- M.S., Tenn.

"The Ek knife is lightweight, yet heavy-duty, the closest thing to a razor-sharp pry bar you can get!"
- R.T., Chestertown, Md.

"My grandson's C.O. was a little jealous over my grandson's Ek knife -- his was a lot better than the C.O.'s! I have three grandsons in or going to Iraq, and all three have Ek knives."
- M.N., Hardin, Mon.

In February, 2001, I was aboard the U.S.S. Duluth (LPD-6), an Amphib, visiting our oldest son, then a Lieutenant of Marines. I ran into this Marine, equipped with an Ek S/F3! Small world."
- Bob Buerlein (Ek President)

"One of my buddies in Iraq had one of your knives, and when I go back to Iraq I want to put my K-bar in the drawer and take your M4."
- M.A., USMC

"I just got the CW5 Bowie. The catalog does not do it justice. Thanks for the service you and your company provides and pass on to your folks that they have made a fine product."
- MSG A.T., Baghdad

"I bought my first Ek Commando back in the 1980's. It has been my constant companion and "silent partner" at home and in a few travels around the world. I taught martial arts for over twenty years to civilians and military personnel and have used the Ek Commando as an example of the best combat/fighting/defense knife ever made. Many of my students have bought and used these knives on my recommendation. They have all been very happy with their knives. Ek knives don't give way. I have never owned a knife as sharp and deadly as an Ek, and feel safe with it at my side when things get dicey."
- Kelly

"Once you see one and use one it sells itself – it's a time-proven design."
- R.P., Richmond, VA

Dietmar Pohl, military knife author in Germany and designer of many respected Boker Knives of Germany loves his Boker knives, but, as you can see, he also owns and collects Ek Commando Knives!

"I have been looking for the right blade for myself (high kidnap risk)...Actually gave up on finding a good double edge fighting knife and thought I would have to make my own. So glad I found out about Ek."
- R.M., Iraq

"I served two tours in Korea in the early 1990's, and your S/F5 Bowie served me REAL well. Senior NCO's and officers were always after it. One officer offered me $500 for it. As always, I told him, 'It's not for sale'!"
- F.G.E., Jr., Ohio

"The Handprint Micarta grips are something that need to be felt to be appreciated."
- M.F., Falls Church, Va.

- Recon Marine Major

- P.B., Ill.

"No Marine worth his salt leaves home without an Ek knife. I feel they are the best. I own an old warrior -- it has saved me a few times. It is a lot of comfort for me."
- J.W., Idaho

"The knives are excellent, the fit, the finish and quality materials used are worth the price of the knives. The service from your company is also very commendable."
- R.I., Kandahar, Afghanistan

"It's a great, reliable knife -- the best in my collection."
- P.V., The Netherlands

"I am very pleased with the purchase of my new M4 knife. This adrenaline-rush knife has the feel of pure leverage and power. The handle fits perfectly into my hand both forward and backwards. I have collected knives for years and obviously overlooked this maker of fine knives, for this I am sorry. I am also sorry for my loss of time using and carrying this line of knives with me."
- T.M., New and Proud Ek knife owner

"Received the Ek Bowie knife this p.m. Beautiful cutting instrument. I've wanted one since I saw a full-page advertisement in the 1980's. Thank you."
- J.M., N.C.

"I have always been impressed with Ek Knives, and I was not disappointed when I held my new M-5 Bowie in my hand. I am very pleased with the heft and workmanship of the knife, and will soon be calling you again to order another Ek Knife."
- R.W., Ariz.

"Both of these Eks are great...very proud to have them. One will be deployed with our friend very soon. Don't know yet where he'll end up, but he's infantry, so take a guess."
- P.F., Minn.

"I was infantry for 12 years...I told him if it was me going this is the knife I would bring."
- SSG J.G.

"A few years ago I purchased an Ek No. 5 Bowie and carried it faithfully during my tour in Iraq. During my year there I used my Ek knife for everything from opening MRE's to prying open doors to insurgents' hiding places. In one instance a group of individuals approached us knowing full well we would not shoot because of the amount of children in the area. It was at this point I produced my Ek (backed up by other soldiers with rifles, of course) and instructed the men to back off, which they immediately did. All their eyes were on my Ek at that moment. It has truly been the best knife I have ever owned."
- SSG Eddie R., U.S. Army Cavalry Scout

"I have carried the Ek Commando M3 since 1989. It has seen action during the '91 Gulf War, Bosnia, Kosovo, and other deployments. I will now carry the updated M5 with me as I go on my fourth tour to Iraq soon. Many thanks for making such a dependable product in support of our armed forces."
- A.T. (U.S. Army), Colo.

"I do jujitsu, and this Ek is the best knife I've ever owned."
- R.H., Pilot OH58D, Ft. Polk (going to Iraq)

"Probably the only true test of any piece of equipment is how it performs. From what I've read about Ek knives, not one American serviceman or woman has ever been disappointed by an Ek knife. That is the best endorsement you can get."
- A.J.C.

Ek knives are fighting terrorism.

"I love it. The new handle design is great. It will not be the last knife I order from you." Best regards from Germany.
- R.N.

"I'm extremely happy with the blade and am spreading the word to comrades that the Ek is the best thing for fighting with, should the need for a blade arise in our line of work."
- J.E., Federal Agent, U.S. and abroad

"You should know that I have never in my life been able to find a better knife manufacturer than Ek. I have owned over five Ek knives so far. This is mostly due to the fact that I lose them or loan them out to friends. I also like to keep them at home, work, in the car, etc. As a testament to the quality of these knives, I actually saw one buried under mulch for 2 years and was dug up looking like new and cutting just as well! Thanks so much for providing America with a quality product in a time when so many manufacturers are sacrificing quality for quantity. Keep up the good work!"
- WL, Baltimore, Md.

"Words will never describe your knife – that feel of perfection. The Ek will outperform any damn knife made. It may be hard to realize how damn good a product you've got. I have busted blades, chipped blades of some damn good knives, but never has an Ek failed."
- J. P.

"I've got 30 to 40 knives, but your Model 5 Bowie is the one I use all the time. I've had it for 20 years, and it goes to bed with me every night!"
- J.R., Oregon

"The Ek...is lively in the hand and extraordinarily quick...It is a fighting knife, designed to leap into the hand and spring into action...as impressive as anything I've ever handled...The balance is there, and the fit and finish are excellent...a beautiful knife, but one that is ready for action in the grimmest of circumstances...whether you have a soldier's presentation knife in mind, or one for a warrior beginning his or her tour, I can think of nothing better. They are wonderful examples of the American combat blade."
- Knife World, April 2006 - Bob Campbell

(Checkered Walnut grips are)..."the best I have seen...even my wife was impressed (very hard to do). I want to thank everyone at Ek for your awesome work, knowing you are making a difference to lives and providing the best to each soldier, marine, peace officer, and anyone who depends on a great knife."
- D.F., Arizona

"I am a helicopter pilot in the US Army. I deployed to Iraq in 2003 with my model S/F 3, and have absolutely loved it! I am purchasing the M4 series. I will soon depart for another trip to Iraq and would absolutely not go without a Ek knife attached to me. Thank you for still staying in business all these years. I do not know what I would have done had I not been able to purchase another Ek knife. Thanks for making one helluva knife!"
- R.H., Ft. Polk

"I just received my Marine Raider Stiletto. What a great knife, thank you. I served in the Marine Corps for six years and have been a police officer in FL for seventeen. I've owned a few knives in that time including many Randalls. Your knives are second to none. Thanks again for a great knife. Semper Fi."
- E.F., Fla.

"I carried Ek Knives in the 1970's in the Marine Corps, and you just can't beat them!"
- J.B., N.M.

"I am pleased with the Ek 4...I am currently on disability due to a bomb blast in Iraq and am awaiting to be released...I have already had to turn down two missions one back to Iraq and the other to Afghanistan, but when the time is right to deploy I will have your Ek 4 and hopefully the Ek Bowie along for the ride (a good knife is hard to beat, and two is even harder)."
- A.O., S.C.

"Usually you look at something beautiful in a magazine and you get one sent to your home, and it is a piece of junk. This is a work of art. It will shave the hairs off your arm!"
- J.B., Tex.

"My Grandfather was a member of the 28th signal 28th Pennsylvania during WW2. He was captured during the bulge, and my Father was a member of the 77th Ranger 2nd battalion during Vietnam. Both of them in one way or another got and carried an Ek knife. Now that I am leaving for an overseas combat posting, I want to carry on my family's tradition of carrying Ek knives."
- Maj. G.T.M. (Police Tactical Training), Penn.

"My Model 4 is going to Iraq with a Marine I know. I told him that an Ek saved my uncle's life in Nam and a buddy's life in Afghanistan. I can tell another Marine's life will be safer now that he knows that he has an Ek."
- D.F.

"I want this message posted on the Ek website. People need to know that the service Ek provides is number One. No one comes close. I have been a proud owner for two years of Ek Model 4s. Ek is the only knife company that I will be doing business with. You have proudly carried the Ek legacy into the twenty-first century. With your continuing dedication Ek will be a household name for generations. Thank you.
Sincerely, Jason"

"I am under the impression that you made these to be used."
- S.B., Police Dept.

"A fine piece of steel. I don't recall ever seeing a double edge executed as well as this one. The craftsmanship is excellent. Your steel will carry on the honored tradition. Thank you for the support you provide to all of us here."
- LTC K.M., Baghdad

"Even in Germany times are getting rougher. Therefore, it is good to have a solid high performance partner like an Ek knife. 9/11 is supposed to be planned in Germany...and therefore I expect the day when the Islamic dynamite explodes over here. But I promise, me and my Ek knife will be a hard target then!"
- A.K., Germany

"I believe my Ek No. 5 Bowie would cut a Ka-Bar in half! It's a great knife!"
- R.B., Calif.

"I just received my Ek and it is above and beyond all expectations!"
- D.A., Tulsa, Okla.

"I am very attached to my Ek Knife as I have and do carry it on our SWAT team. It symbolizes the mind set I must carry into our situations."
- Sgt. S.O.

"The Ek is a bit of usable history...My own son, a Marine EOD Tech is carrying an older, cord wrapped Richmond Ek M5 on his flak vest in Iraq right now. It's one of his favorite knives and he does have a pretty darn good selection to choose from."
- S.D.

"I carried my Ek Bowie with me all the time I was in Iraq. Whenever I pulled it out, everyone around was drawn to it, asking, 'Where did you get it? Who made it?' I had my Ek Bowie in my hand cutting something, and a belligerent Iraqi walked towards me from behind. I turned around to see who it was. That Iraqi saw the knife and his eyes got REAL big, and he started backing away, saying, 'No, mister. No, mister!' While your knives are good looking in a glass showcase, they are more than capable of getting the job done. Good job! My hat's off to you."
- SGT C.U., U.S. Army, Tenn.

"Thanks for your cooperation and help. Very satisfied with my Ek. Any Marine would be proud to have one with their issued 782 gear. Semper Fi."

- K.V.T., Virginia

Best Ranger Trophy Ek Commando Knives

Note Ek Commando M4 as center device of symbol of the Chilean Marine Commandos (Airborne). The Ek is the only current American knife used in the symbol of any military unit in the world!

"It's not every day that I meet someone who knows more about a knife than how to eat a pork chop!" (About the Ek staff.)
- M.B., Washington

"I've been in Iraq about 6 months and have about another 6 to go. This is my second tour to Iraq. I was part of the northern airborne/special operation. My job is to go to the different outposts by flying either Blackhawk or Chinook helicopters. On one mission, an officer with me had an Ek Model 4 that his father had carried years before and had given to him for his deployment. He let me hold the Model 4. It was beautifully balanced and I had great confidence knowing this blade would most definitely perform when called upon. During OIF-I (Invasion) and this deployment I have my Randall Model 18 attached to my IBA. I will wear your Ek M4 on my belt."
- K.B., Iraq

"Ek has one thing the others don't offer and that is a solid tradition and history with the military going back many years. My Ek has always been a great knife for all my needs, including opening ammo crates and a great many uses a knife wasn't designed for. I've used it in Grenada, Somalia, Sudan and Afghanistan on three different deployments (the first time when the Russians were there). The hilt is big enough for a MAN's hand -- most others are too small. Everyone who sees my Ek knife goes bananas over it. My father had one in Korea. When Dad gave his Ek to my brother, my brother threw his Gerber MkII in the woods!"
- R.K.B. "Magician 25", USMC

"When I'm hunting, I use it for mercy killing of wild boars, roe deer, elk and moose."
- G.R., Sweden

"To say I am pleased is a gross understatement. My knife has to be the finest survival knife here at Ft. Benning, GA. I am pleasantly surprised as to the comfort of the handle wrapped in parachute cord. It really has been great to be able to keep a good tight grip even in the hottest, and most humid days I have experienced here."
- 2LT R.L.

"I am very impressed – what a superb tool and weapon! Thanks for making such a fine product – the pride in your craftsmanship shows."
- SFC C.D.

"I have used my Ek Survival-Fighter for several months and it has exceeded all my expectations. It held its edge through some pretty tough use and then resharpened easily on a diamond steel. The point is fine enough to pick a splinter out of your finger, yet strong enough to dig a bullet from a tree stump without breaking. Its light weight is not a handicap cutting tent poles, and is a real plus when cutting up a chicken or making a salad. (Try that with your pound and a half Buckmaster!!) As a camp knife and all around tool it has replaced my Cold Steel Tanto."
- B.M.

"My experiences with your Commando Knife, the first time, was in October 1967 at Bien Hoa in III Corps, I was in a gunship, flying as a passenger for an insert mission in Cambodia, Project Phoenix. The ship took bo-coup hits in the engine box and went down like a lead balloon – on its side and started to burn. I took the knife and pounded on the door, no good, so I jammed the knife through the metal skin and started to cut my way out. The knife cut it like butter. When we were 15-20 feet away the ship blew up. The only weapon we had was the knife. We both made it through 23 klicks of jungle with the knife as protection. We had to dispose of two VC with it, again it did the job, never losing its edge. Without that knife we both would be dead. I have opened C Rat cans with it, cut ammo cans open, cut parachute webbing with it, pounded nails and chopped tree limbs with it. I have busted Kbars doing the same jobs. In July 1970, I was flying with a MACVSOG unit. Our team dropped HALO in a bad LZ, lost our equipment, and busted the stock on my Matty Matel M-16. Again the knife and my 9mm were all I had. Our team got caught by some VC Regulars – the fire fight started, I went low on ammo, the VC rushed us and that damn, beautiful knife took three of them out, one stroke each. Once we finished, we had to di di, we got back to base camp, we made it because of the knife. I am a very firm believer you have the finest knife in the world today."
- MSG J. P.

"THE ULTIMATE."
- L.M.

"The professional way the purchase of the M5 was handled was outstanding. The knife quality, fit/finish is exemplary."
- P.L.

"I always thought your S/F 3 was the best knife around."
- Hal S., L.A., Calif.

"I was with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam, and my bayonet was just not getting it. The guys recommended getting an Ek, so I wrote my father and he ordered one and mailed it to me. It was a tradition when we rotated home to pass our knife along to one of our buddies in the 196th, and I did. I haven't had one since then, and now I want to get another one, because I really liked it."
- L.R., Richmond, Va.

(BEFORE)
"I had one (Ek Commando Knife) in Vietnam with Special Forces. I didn't realize what I had when I had it, and, when I returned home, I let another guy have it...and I've regretted it ever since. Now I want to get another one."
(AFTER)
"I love this knife! I am definitely impressed with your product. It's a fine knife!"

- A.C., California

"I bought my Ek Commando Knife from a Special Forces LT – I love it!"
- C.M., Washington (State)

"I bought my Ek when I was 18, and I still have it – that's 24 years. It did a lot of things for me a knife wasn't designed to do, if you know what I mean, and it has held up real well. It's a beautiful knife."
- D.H. (Harley dealer)

"That's the sharpest knife I've ever owned!"
